This exhibition will run through June 24th. A talk by Katie Geha, in conversation with Klotzman, will be presented on June 3rd from 1:00 to 2:00 in the afternoon the day after the opening.

LIFE QUESTIONS HERSELF SO AT ME>>> draws from ethnographic, psychoanalytic, art historical, and poetic thinking, presenting a series of documents, correspondence, and text generated from a word game played between the artist and her ex-lovers. The work takes its central, generative source from both E.E. Cummings’ erotic poems and the children’s game of Mad Libs.  The resulting documents operate from and reference not only a rich lineage of game-playing in art history, but also the practices of conceptual art and poetics. The ludic operations of the artist and participants culminate in a series of (self-)portraits: in their exhibition as a cohesive collection, the body of text gestures toward a group likeness, which perhaps says more about the artist (acting as curator/ethnographer) than any of the individuals as such. It is a poetic, textual, curatorial, and documentary portrait of both distance and intimacy, of eroticism and the everyday, of estrangement and similitude.
